It’s a distillate from the oils of the berries and leaves of the West Indies Bay Tree, and yes, once upon a time drinkable rum was made from the leaves. In fact, back in the 16th and 17th centuries in the Caribbean, rum was an accepted currency, even being used to pay wages. We’ve added some citrus and spice oils to recreate the famous historic aroma.
